Who we are

PictureEaster Sunday - Sunrise on Punta Prima Beach.
GTB is a eclectic collection of individuals brought together under the baton of Lana Tingay.  They are bound together by a love of music and entertaining and helping others.  They have a strong feeling of community and this is emphasised by the family and friendship  links of the group.

They are members of Abergavenny Borough Senior and Youth Bands and with the exception of two player have all visited Menorca with Gwent Touring Band in previous years.

Lana's husband Jonathan, Abergavenny's treasurer plays Bass Trombone, her daughter, Elizabeth,  Tenor Horn and Lana herself joins in with the Solo Horn  when not conducting.   Lana also conducts and tutors the Youth Band and is ably assisted by Andrew Richards, Euphonium, Abergavenny's Fundraising Manager and   Richard Shorey another committee member who plays Cornet.

Abergavenny is further represented by Terry Prosser, Eb Tuba, Chairman and Jon Mudd, Cornet and Abergavenny's Flugel player and PR Manager while GTB's Flugel player David Bateman, is Abergavenny's Soprano Cornet. Another of our versatile musicians, Joy Dando, has recently moved from Cornet to Tenor Horn.

Our Cornet line-up is completed by three talented young ladies,  Lowri Powell, Ffion Johnson and Rachel Morgan.  Lowri was part of last year's group but for the other two it's their first but undoubtedly not their last visit.

And finally the percussion, Jacqui Forest-Jones, a veteran of Gwent Touring Band and her assistant, Fiona Evans, who made her debut last year with a variety of instruments,  bell and triangle included.
